Q?

What is the most painful spot on the body to get a tattoo? What is the least painful?

A.

All tattoos hurt. However, getting a tattoo is usually less painful than things you experience in daily life, like stubbing your toe, or being scratched by a cat. Each person will have their own experience.

The most painful thing would be getting the wrong tattoo in a spot that you wish it wasn’t. The most important thing is to get what you want, not what you think you can handle. Don’t let short-term thoughts of pain change the long term vision of your tattoo. Enjoy the hunt!

“It must be painful, it must be permanent and it must leave a mark.” Capt. Howdy

Q?

I feel sick, can I get a tattoo?

A.

No, please do not share your illness with us or others.

Q?

Can I get a tattoo on a sunburn?

A.

No, that is just silly. Damage on top of damage is not going to go well for anyone.

Q?

How small can I get my tattoo

A.

If you have to ask you probably won't like the answer. Tattoos done too small do not last the test of time. In a consultation we can go over what will, what won't, and what can, or can't be done.

Q?

Can I go swimming with my fresh tattoo?

A.

Avoid swimming with a fresh tattoo until it's fully healed, as a tattoo is essentially an open wound during this time. Pool chemicals can fade the color, while lakes or rivers pose a risk of infection. If your tattoo has scabbed over, swimming can damage the scabs, potentially restarting the healing process.L resulting in loss of color.

Q.?

What is the studio minimum

A.

The studio doesn’t have an official minimum. We have several artists that all work in different ways, styles and speeds. Since we don’t have clones doing tattoos, we don’t have the same rates or minimums.

Q. ?

Can I use numbing products during my tattoo session?

A.

We advise against the use of numbing products in most cases. Their recent popularity has led to issues such as ineffectiveness, swelling, and increased blood flow to the skin. Allergic reactions have rendered some skin untattooable. Considering our tattoos often require extended sessions, be aware that the pain may intensify as the numbing product wears off. If you opt for numbing, proceed at your own risk, test for allergies beforehand, and note that a reaction preventing completion may still incur charges for the scheduled time slot. Also note that the FDA recommends against the use, especially the ones sold on Amazon.

Q?

If I am under 18 can I get a tattoo with my parents’ permission?

A.

Wisconsin state law says: “No person under 18 years of age may be tattooed except by a physician in the course of the physician’s professional practice, as permitted under s.948.70 (3), Stats.”

In other words: No, we will not tattoo you unless you can provide proof that you are 18 or older. ID required for all ages.

Q?

What are officer hours vs tattoo hours

A.

We have open office hours where someone is at the front desk to help you. Tattoo artists work early and late.

Q?

Do you do piercing?

A.

No, we do not do any piercing at Ultimate Arts. We prefer to concentrate on doing quality tattooing. Adding piercing would take away from the time we need to create the perfect personal experience you deserve.

Q?

Does it make a difference which artist does my tattoo?

A.

Yes. Each artist has his or her own style. To decide which artist’s style you like best, we recommend that you view their portfolios, which are available on this site. The portfolios will give you a good idea of the quality and style to expect from that artist.

Q?

Do you use the film bandages? (Also know as Tegaderm or second skin)

A.

Yes we do

We find it to be the fastest and safest way to heal a tattoo.

Q?

How much does it cost to get a tattoo from Ultimate Arts?

A.

We base our fees on how long it will take to complete the artwork. The only way for us to give a proper quote is for you to stop in to the studio so we can discuss all the possibilities. It is suggested to call and set up a time for a free consultation. We only give price quotes in person at the studio by the artist doing the tattoo.

Each artist gives their own quotes. We will never charge you more then you were quoted unless you make changes to the design after the quote was made. But, if it takes less time than quoted, we will only charge for how long it took.

Q.?

what are open/closed books

A.

Open books mean there are open slots on the schedule for that artist. Closed books indicate that all available slots are full. Some artists only book out 3-4 months, we can only book so many consultations to fill that time frame. When they are full, the books get closed. If you see “books closed” under an artist, check back soon, new slots are released monthly, usually around the 1st of the month.
